Domestic terror

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

How do you raise a domestic terrorist? I asked myself that question not before I wrote “Kelsey’s Quest,” my first novel. It wasn’t written with that intention in mind, but it seemed, as one of the main characters–Michael Stewart–became more and more disparate, after he returned home from the war in Iraq. Michael found his options severely limited as his economic status declined, and being a veteran, he went to what he knew best.

C C’s book signing

Monday, August 31st, 2009

It was a glorious event held for me by the world’s most wonderful family. One day, not too long ago, I was sitting in the chair having my hair done at CC’s Beauty and Barber Shop–by C C of course. And the conversation turned to my books. C C, as L A’s most well-read and erudite beautician/barber and Jill of all trades and all things wholesome. Well, she consistently makes me aware of things that I may be oblivious to for one reason or another–she’s like a mother in that way. Characteristically, she’s really much more in the personage of a colonial town-crier of old–she gets the word out to those privileged and righteous enough to hear the sonic boom of her melliferous admonishments. C C believes in righting the wrongs and educating the uneducated. And in this vein and with her informed guidance, so many of her friends and family have read my books, and having read them, C C informed me that many of them would like for me to sign their books–which they have read upon C C’s encouragement. So one thing led to another, and she decided that a book signing party was in order. So on August 29th, quick fast, she and her wonderful and very large family did transform her beauty salon/barber shop into a wonderful slice of home and hearth. The atmosphere they presented to me and invited guests, it was not only heart warming, but it was heart swelling–I and my wife Liliana were treated and greeted as family, we have never been so well received. Thank you all so very, very much for coming, buying and greeting this new author on the literary scene. Thank you so much.
Oh yes, from this little shindig, we, C C and I have planned soon to start a book club discussion, right there at C C’s. Please stay tuned.
